As promised, there is a update of the LA3D viewer now available that
includes some bug fixes and runs on Mac OSX. The new version (1.0.1)
can be accessed through http://epicenter.usc.edu/la3d/.

LA3D viewer, second instance

Windows is fine as it is the officially supported platform for LA3D.
As my main machine runs linux, I myself test for that mostly. I had
incorrectly assumed that windows would start up a second program
instance just as linux does. Sorry for the confusion and I will update
the instructions on he web page to reflect this. Fortunately, there is
an easy workaround. Just install LA3D a second time, to a different
location and then launch the second instance from
there. Alternatively, to save diskspace perhaps, you could also just
copy the LA3D.exe file in the installation directory to, say,
LA3D_2.exe in the same directory and double-click on the copy. Perhaps
the LA3D developers come up with a proper solution soon.

comments about specific faults

CFM 2 contains more than 140 faults. At last count there were 151 fault representations and an additional 50 something alternative fault representations. Please use this entry to leave any remark about specific faults. E.g. one might note that many of the fault intersection seem to be artefacts from projecting faults downward and are therefore to be made more kinematically consistent by truncations.

Today we kicked off our virtual workshop for evaluating CFM version 2. In the invitation email all participants are refferred to the web site at http://structure.harvard.edu/cfm2eval. The web page in turn points to this blog a place where participants can leave public comments. This entry should serve as a point where general comments about the workshop can be published by anyone.
